Meet the Lovebird

Lovebirds got their name for their fondness of sitting in pairs and preening each other. Eight of the nine species originate in Africa and the ninth from Madagascar. They also tend to have loud chirps, get nippy from time to time, love to chew, and are very inquisitive. The most common of these birds kept as pets are Fischer's, Masked, and Peach-faced lovebirds.

Lovebirds do not necessarily have to be kept as a pair. A single lovebird will bond to its human, but will need plenty of attention!

They can live up to 15 or more years and are about 6 inches long.

Come on in and tell us about your lovebird!
